Charlotte stood at her window and stared out into the grey sky that lay on the other side of the thick glass. The blonde let out a deep sigh. Before too long, the students would be flooding into the castle. The stony corridors would echo to the sound of chattering voices and moving feet, and anyone standing at a window would be unable to see the green fields of the Hogwarts grounds for the sheer volume of people. They would be overwhelmed with ringing bells, running feet, shouting voices...
Maybe that was a slight exaggeration. Truth be told, Charlotte preferred it when the castle was full of people. Without the students, it felt cold, empty, heartless. What was worrying her on this rather dismal day wasn't the return of the students. It was the wider world. Things were happening; things were changing- or rather, they were reverting to how they had been before. A long time before. When people were vanishing every day, and yet no one was worried because there was so much else to worry about, and most of the other stuff would personally involve you. They were bad, bad times, which had been all but forgotten, because no one wanted to remember things like that. The situation now wasn't anywhere near to being at that state of affairs. But things were going slowly downhill. There was a darkness in the world, and it was growing.
But thoughts such as these had no place in the head of a simple Charms professor, and she had other things to worry about. More imminent issues, which included, but were by no means limited to, lesson plans. The blonde sighed. They needed to be done, but she made no move to leave her position by the window. The view might be dreary, but it was still one of the most beautiful views that she knew of, because this castle had come to be her home over the many years that she had spent here. And the view from one's own window was always vastly superior to any other, even if the weather was uncertain. There were looming clouds in the east, and she suspected that rain was on its way.
